I was born in Taiwan and have worked in a wide range of musical styles and media. I have extensive experience as both a pianist and percussionist focusing on classical, contemporary, ethnic, and electronic music (Software skills: Finale, Logic, Pro Tools, Max/MSP/Jitter) and am applying my knowledge in composition for media.
I earned my BA in Piano, Percussion and Music Education at the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) and was the first recipient of an MFA in Multimedia Applications from the NTNU Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology with the Scholarship for Excellent Graduate Students. Also, I was designated graduate representative for the graduate students of the NTNU College of Music. I earned a second MFA in Music Composition for the Screen at Columbia College Chicago with a Government Scholarship for Study Abroad from the Taiwan Ministry of Education and a Follett Graduate Merit Award upon entering, studying with David McHugh, Gary Chang, Kubilay Uner, and had internship with James Newton Howard in the Semester in LA.
During my first graduate studies, I focused on fields related to recording engineering, video recording and editing, program directorship, electro-acoustic/computer music, and music digital archiving while completing the accredited program entitled Music Digital Archive and Composition. I also engaged in music composition, music arrangement, and multimedia applications work. Regarding the later category, my electronic music work "Exorcism" won the Excellent Work award for electronic music at the International Workshop on Computer Music and Audio Technology..
Recent years, I completed work on "No Destination", a short film for the Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC), Taiwan, and composed the music for "The Heart of Never", presented at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair. Additionally, I scored "Fishes of the Sea", a short film; "Air France", commercial contest; "The Other Side of Time", a cult film; "The Fall", a cult film; "Scott Road", a short film, and "Chinese Paladin", a Mobile Game.
In 2020, I was invited to serve as an Online Curator, and curated the exhibition, "Early Film Muaic of Taiwan" for Academia Sinica of Taiwan, and the "2020 Taiwan Precious Music Recordings Online Exhibition" for the Taiwan Music Institude, registered on the website of 2020 World Day for Audiovisual Heritage, UNESCO.
